On Saturday the 15th February we had great pleasure in welcoming our primary and junior club members from age 6 to 15 years and their parents to our Spring Competition Day.
In total 26 judoka competed for gold, silver and bronze in their pool. For some it was the first time on the mat with a formal referee and for others a good practice and reminder of aspects to strengthen for the upcoming Cornish.
A huge thanks to parents for their support and buying copious amounts of tea, coffee and some excellent cakes; not to mention the Tombola which was a very popular distraction with all the donated prizes on offer.
On the day we raised £373.50 of which we donated £40 to Teenage cancer and Claires Hospice for a member of our extended judo family, the courageous Jago Ford.
Thanks also to our pro-active committee members for running the tea table and tombola, our Sensei (especially Faye!) for pulling all aspects of the day together including prize collecting, refereeing, timekeeping, top table and generally running around.
Our biggest gratitude as always, is for Sensei Tom and
Jackie for coming over and giving their time to oversee the event, passing on
their wisdom and top tips, and most importantly of all of course, presenting
medals to our very happy judoka.
