The BJC Cromer course kicked off on Sunday 26th
May with Ricky Cleevely 5th Dan as guest coach for the first two
days.
Ricky is well known for his part in International Kata, representing
GB. But he also runs a judo club ‘Shizentai’ along with his wife Lisa who assisted
him with the coaching.
The rest of the weeks coaching was covered by Mark Avison, Debbie
Small, Gareth Merredew, Matt Lish, Roger Harris, Laurie Craig, Riki Urquhart
and Charlotte Haines.( Sorry if I’ve missed anyone).
Thank you to all the coaches for their sessions which were all well attended and greatly received.
Kata was covered by Bob Cleevely and Karl Barker during the
week with assistance from Ricky , Lisa and Tori Cleevely, Yvette Fox & Len Witts. Each
day tuition for a specialist kata was also provided.
With the inclusion of the table officials course level 1& 2 on Wednesday run by Ian Vale and Jonathan F itches and a lifesaving course held by Mitch Haines the week was packed with things to do for Judoka and non-judoka.
All was overseen by Alan Carlisle 6th Dan and the Presidents Technical representative on this course.
Unfortunately the weather was awful so all afternoon activities
where held at the Judo venue rather than the usual venue, these included
Rounders ( Sunday ), Football( Monday), Cricket ( Wednesday). The rain clouds held off for the
weekly buffet and Quiz which was won by Leni’s lions.
All accumulated with a grading on Friday 31st May
2024.
Which saw Brenden Hill awarded his 1st Dan and
Charlotte Haines recommended for her 1st Dan.
Put the dates in your diary for next year 25th- 30th May as it plans to be yet another great course .
Get your
accommodation booked early as you will find its limited the longer you leave it.!!
